Eligibility Criteria
- All participants must wear a life jacket at all times.
- Participants must comply with the manufacturer's weight limits (450 lbs for tandem kayaks/canoes and 275 lbs for single kayaks).
- Participants must be capable of understanding and following verbal and visual instructions independently or with assistance.
- Participants must be able to wear a properly fitted personal flotation device.
- Participants must be able to enter and exit the kayak independently, with assistance from a companion, or using adaptive equipment.
- At least one person per kayak must be capable of propelling the kayak through the water safely and returning to the launching area.
- Participants must be comfortable in conditions including water temperatures of approximately 80°F and bright sunlight for up to 1.5 hours.
Capsizing Protocol:
- Participants must have the ability to independently exit the watercraft if capsized.
- Participants must be able to right themselves and remain safely face-up in the water while wearing a personal flotation device.
